01. JAR VESSELS / WATER JAR

These jar vessels are the result of a collaboration with Ian Garrett, who made the forms, which I covered with designs. They are made from earthenware clay, and painted with pigments under the glaze layer. This pot is painted with a pattern that abstracts the way shafts of light penetrate a body of water.

02. BIRDS AND FISH JAR

When I worked on fishing boats in my youth we would follow the sea birds to find fish and this pot is inspired by the hours of searching involved. It recalls the constant motion of the sea in stormy weather and the sense of urgency of all the creatures in and around it.

03. THUNDERSTORM JAR

I find thunderstorms invigorating - the slow build-up of heat and expectation is released in a few minutes of furious energy, leaving a sense of calm in its wake.

04. BIRDS IN REEDS JAR

I used to live close to a patch of reeds that was home to a multitude of birds that would return from foraging at sunset each day. I would watch them as I too was finishing the day's work and making preparations for the night.
